How screens represent color (RGB)
Colors on phone and computer screens are made by mixing red, green and blue light. A color code is those strengths written as numbers.
What you'll learn from this poster
- The RGB primaries (light)Mix red, green and blue light / all three at max makes white / all zero makes black / opposite of paint
- Strength is 0-255Each channel has 256 steps (0-255) / larger means stronger / e.g. R255 G0 B0 = red
- Writing it in HEX#RRGGBB, two digits each / #FF0000 = red / #00FF00 = green / #0000FF = blue / #FFFFFF = white
- RGB and HSLRGB = strength of light / HSL = hue, saturation, lightness / #3366CC = rgb(51,102,204) = hsl(220,60%,50%)
