Convert tax-exclusive and tax-inclusive prices (10%, reduced 8%, custom)
The tax is the exclusive price times the rate. At 10%, the tax is "exclusive x 0.1", and adding it to the exclusive price gives the inclusive price. This tool floors the tax to the nearest yen (rounding rules vary by business).
Divide the inclusive price by "1 + rate" to get the exclusive price. At 10%, that is "inclusive / 1.1". This tool rounds the exclusive price and shows the difference as the tax.
The reduced 8% rate applies to food and drink (excluding alcohol and dining out) and some newspaper subscriptions. Everything else uses the standard 10% rate.
The tax is the exclusive price times the rate; add it to the exclusive price for the inclusive price. At 10%, the tax is exclusive x 0.1. This tool floors the tax to the nearest yen.
